As we learn and grow we promise to do so in accordance with the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development goals. These goals provide us with a framework within which we can expand business lines and make decisions on a more holistic manner, rather than simply relying on margins and profit as a measure of success. We challenge others in the industry to do the same.
We have partnered with ROCarbon Labs to begin monitoring our own carbon footprint. Gathering and understanding our own data is the first step to making better decisions. Everything from whether an EV is truly less carbon intensive than an ICE, to the carbon footprint of a solar array can be measured. ROCarbon Labs is helping us understand our impact as we work towards continuous improvement.
We have challenged our suppliers to provide detailed breakdowns about the products we purchase. We're looking for information such as; the working conditions of the manufacturing facility, employee wages, and the measured carbon footprint of the finished product. This information will allow us to make better decisions for our customers, and our planet. This evaluation is not easy, but we've taken the first steps and have committed to the process.
As a business we are committed to valuing the health and wellness of ourselves by that of our people. We believe that valuing our business by our bottom line is like an individually valuing their worth by what's in their bank account. We are aiming to change that benchmark and value in a more wholistic way. We are creating new KPI's and engaging with our employees to make Rocky Mountain Solar Co. a great place to work
At Rocky Mountain Solar Co. we strongly believe in being an active member of our community. Our owners sit on the Boards of Calgary Construction Association, Alberta Construction Safety Association, and Alberta Roofing Contractors Association. In addition, we have been active participants at City Council level. We will continue to press our community to be better, and involve ourselves as much as possible to help lead change.
Rocky Mountain's Board of Directors has committed to becoming a Certified B Corporation. As of March 2023 we are proud to announce that we have reached this goal.
The B Lab process was difficult, but offered an exceptional opportunity to build core principals around purpose. We are excited to be members of the B community, and uphold all that the organization stands for.
