In the fall of 2024, the provincial government, in collaboration with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), announced a $50 million investment in a new energy management initiative. Known as the Strategic Energy Management for Industry (SEMI) program, this initiative is led by Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) and aims to help Canadian businesses improve energy efficiency while reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
“Supporting Canadian industry with their energy efficiency targets is a critical path towards meeting Canada’s net-zero targets and improving competitiveness in a growing global economy.”
— The Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources
Government of Canada
